Me: Ava, that’s my pillow!
Me: You have a princess pillow.
Ava: But, well, I like this one.
Ava: Because it smells like your sweet head.
Open house took fifteen minutes. Heck yes.
I did not stay for the PTA meeting, which perhaps makes me a bad parent. I simply had no desire. No pull in that direction. Maybe next year.
Max delighted in showing us all the nooks and crannies of his classroom, all the corners and spaces he likes and the things he does every day. His teacher seems to truly like him. She can tell that he adores her.
Conferences are in a couple of weeks. Sigh.
Max also got his first recreational phone call last night. From the guy who sits right next to him in class, a rather charming (and persistent, considering the habit I have of not answering my phone when I don’t recognize the number) young man named Davonte. I don’t know if I’m ready for this – this, “Hey man what’s up, let’s talk on the phone” phase. Especially when it’s MY phone he’s using.
Ava came home yesterday with sparkly golden ballet shoes and rocking Hannah Montana shoes as well. The Hannah Montana shoes stayed in the box because she “didn’t want to mess them up”, and I thought maybe I could get away with her not wearing them at all…until this morning. When she picked a blue plaid sailboat dress to wear with those Hannah Montana guitar shoes. Yes, indeed, she’s totally a fashion plate.
